National asbestos plaintiffs' law firm based in downtown, St. Louis seeks a full-time Expert Witness Assistant to support the firm's Expert Witness Coordinator. This position will primarily help schedule and retain experts for the firm. Specific duties include (but are not limited to): calendaring due dates and deadlines; coordinate and schedule expert testimony for each litigation team; helping maintain communication and working relationships with experts before and after testimony for retention; updating, saving, and maintaining case and expert information in the firm's case management software; working with litigation teams to ensure expert protocol is being followed; maintain organization and professionalism with experts and testimony schedule; and organizing and tracking expert materials and reports. Qualified candidates will have at least 1 year of clerical experience in a professional services environment. Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat required. The position will support the Settlements department by performing legal research and writing, client communications, and other tasks. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): assist attorneys with administration of insurance subrogation and governmental repayment obligations related to settlement proceeds; draft correspondence, authorizations, transmittal letters, and other legal documents; work with vendors and insurance companies to gather claim information related to clients' medical treatment(s); track and monitor client files, calendars, and provide status updates; perform internal policy plan language; audit medical billing codes; communicate with clients, litigation teams, insurance companies, vendors, and government agencies to resolve liens. Large downtown St. Louis based national plaintiffs' law firm that exclusively represents victims of mesothelioma is seeking to hire a litigation associate. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): case investigation; managing discovery; taking and defending depositions; document review; drafting and arguing motions; preparing cases for trial; client contact; and frequent travel (8-9 nights per month). The successful candidate will serve as a second or third chair during trials with the potential to first chair after gaining sufficient experience. Qualified candidates will have 2-10 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in a med-legal environment (plaintiff asbestos, personal injury, medical malpractice, etc.). The successful candidate will need to be quick study as the candidate will need to become familiar with various sources of asbestos exposure and the basic medical terminology associated with mesothelioma. Ideal candidate will have some trial, research and writing, and deposition experience, along with case management. Candidates with judicial clerkship experience will be viewed favorably.
