The Well-Being Committee is joining thousands of teams across the country to help save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

The BAMSL St. Louis Attorneys Against Hunger Committee is pleased to partner with the St. Louis part of the national 9/11 Day of Service to pack food for the St. Louis Area Foodbank and The Outreach Program.

Advertising is now on sale for the upcoming September/October 2022 St. Louis Lawyer magazine issue. The issue will be profiling the following Spirit of Justice award winners:  Beth Boggs, of Boggs, Avellino, Lach & Boggs; Left Bank Books Foundation, Kris Kleindienst accepting; Zoe Linza; Greg Linhares, Clerk of Court for the Eastern District of Missouri; Dana McWay, Clerk of Court for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court;  and Edward Jones.  

The honorees have been announced for this year's 2022 Spirit of Justice Award. They are listed below:

Beth Boggs of Boggs, Avellino – for her work during pandemic of providing food, hand sanitizers, masks, gloves, etc., on a weekly basis around the community and sandwich-making efforts every Thursday night at her firm.
 
Edward Jones – for its Courageous Conversations program on race and social justice that began in 2017

Zoe Linza – former BAMSL Executive Director, will receive a Lifetime Contribution Award

On Saturday, August 13, Operation Food Search will come together with local family-owned grocery stores, Schnucks, Dierbergs, and Straub's Markets, to host Shop Out Hunger. Shop out Hunger is Operation Food Search’s largest annual food drive. This regional event collects a large number of non-perishable foods that provides nutrition to over 200,000 people a month.

Many volunteers are needed to position themselves at grocery stores throughout the St. Louis bi-state area to encourage shoppers to donate food as they shop on Saturday, August 13. We are seeking at least two volunteers per store and per shift.

There is no expense! All materials needed will be provided and can be picked up at OFS the week prior.

The current term of the office of United States Magistrate John M. Bodenhausen expires on April 15, 2023. The United States District Court is required to appoint a panel of citizens to consider the reappointment of the magistrate judge to a new eight-year term.

The duties of the magistrate judge include the following: (1) to conduct preliminary proceedings in criminal cases; (2) to try misdemeanor cases; (3) to conduct various pretrial matters and evidentiary proceedings on delegation from the district judges; (4) to try civil cases with the consent of the litigants; and (5) by reference, to handle social security cases and habeas corpus petitions.

Comments from the Bar and the public on whether the incumbent magistrate judge should be recommended by the panel for the reappointment by the district court should be in writing and sent to:
