A federal judge imposed Rule 11 sanctions including a $5,000 penalty against lawyers who “abandoned their responsibilities when they submitted non-existent judicial opinions with fake quotes and citations created by the artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT, then continued to stand by the fake opinions after judicial orders called their existence into question.” This order is noteworthy as an early indicator of the skepticism and concern some courts are expressing on the use of powerful and disruptive artificial intelligence technology emerging in the legal industry. Volunteer Opportunity - Limited Capacity!

The BAMSL St. Louis Attorneys Against Hunger Committee is hosting a group volunteer opportunity from 8-10 a.m. on Tue., July 18, at the St. Louis Area Foodbank. These volunteer spots are now open to the public so be sure to register before it is too late!

Join BAMSL's Marijuana Law Committee for the "Amendment 3 Passed: Now What?" CLE. This session features speakers Marialle Bell, Jaimie Mansfield, Eric Walter, and Jillian Wood, who help explain the changing landscape of marijuana law with the passing of Amendment 3.

BAMSL's LGBTQ+ Committee will be hosting a booth at Tower Grove Pride to provide information about legal name changes and completing The Missouri Bar's "Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care and Health Care Directive" form.

Attorney and notary volunteers will be needed. Shifts available during the following hours:

Saturday, September 23 - 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, September 24 - 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
