We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, we must postpone the Federal Practices Quadrennial Seminar on November 7, 2025. We plan to reschedule the seminar for a later date in the spring of 2026.

Upon request, all registration payments will be fully refunded. Please respond by sending an email to sbaltz@bamsl.org to request the refund. Otherwise, we will carry over your registration to 2026. Please help us by sharing this notice with any colleagues or peers who have registered.

After a parenting plan is entered by a court following a divorce, modification, or other judgment, parents may still have disputes arising from their parenting plan. A parenting coordinator (“PC”) is a neutral third party that helps parents resolve their conflicts. The PC’s main job is to help both parents reach agreements on important matters, whether it is about medical decisions, extracurricular activities, or scheduling issues. If parents cannot reach an agreement, the PC has the authority to make decisions for the parents.

Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) law can give the gift of family. While ART is an incredible medical advancement, it can be confusing and complex, from both a medical and legal standpoint. There are many types of ART, including sperm or egg donation, surrogacy, and in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Each method comes with different legal implications and its own set of requirements. In this article, the legal intricacies of surrogacy will be explored, including what the governing law in Missouri is, who is involved, and what documents are required to establish parentage.

Summer associates are invited to join BAMSL on July 25 for a morning of exploration, education, and networking in downtown St. Louis. The day begins with a guided tour of the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a visit to the Freedom Suits Memorial outside the Civil Courts Building. The program concludes with a luncheon at the Missouri Athletic Club, featuring brief presentations from BAMSL’s Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Division, and Membership Committee. Please allow time for parking, security, and light walking between venues.

Join us on August 25 for BAMSL’s 2025 Golf Outing at its new location, Glen Echo Country Club, with a shotgun start at 11:00 AM and registration beginning at 9:30 AM. The event features both Firm Challenge and Traditional Foursomes, with prizes awarded across multiple flights and competitions. All participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf, boxed lunches, a golf cart, and a post-round reception with heavy appetizers, drinks, and prize announcements. Open to members and non-members, teams must include at least two BAMSL members to participate.

Join BAMSL's Patent, Trademark, and Copyright Law Section for a virtual CLE on Tuesday, June 24, from 12:00–1:00 PM via Zoom. This program will explore recent developments and emerging issues in post-grant patent proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Featured speaker John Schroeder of Stinson will share insights from his extensive experience litigating IP disputes and handling IPR and PGR proceedings before the USPTO. Attendees will also gain practical guidance on patent counseling, validity challenges, and related IP matters.
