The Saint Louis Bar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL), honored five individuals during its 12th annual Spirit of Justice Awards Celebration on Friday, October 4 at the St. Louis Club in Clayton, MO.

Zoe Linza, Executive Director for the past 13 years of The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL), was presented with the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) Bolton Award. The award is NABE's highest honor recognizing Outstanding Bar Leadership. Linza received the award on Aug. 9, 2019, at the NCBP/NABE/NCBF Joint Luncheon in San Francisco, Calif.

On July 9, 2019, Missouri Governor Michael Parson signed into law Senate Bill 203, making it easier for individuals and neighborhood organizations in the City of St. Louis and Kansas City to combat nuisance properties using the court system.

More Than 72,500 Hours of Pro Bono Legal Work Provided to People in Need in Past Two Years

The Bar Association of St. Louis (BAMSL) announced the winners of its 2018 Hon. Richard B. Teitelman Memorial St. Louis Pro Bono Challenge Awards at a luncheon on Feb. 28 at the St. Louis Club. BAMSL members provided more than 40,503 hours of pro bono service to the community during 2018. The 2018 award winners are Ruth Schneider with RCJ Law, LLC, who reported providing 334.4 hours, and Dowd Bennett LLP, which reported an average of 69 hours per attorney.

The Minorities in the Legal Profession (MILP) Section of the Bar Association of St. Louis (BAMSL) presents "Legislation & Diverse Communities: A Roundtable Review of Criminal Justice Reform, Public Safety and Economic Development." The program, which is a private event open only to members of the legal community, is scheduled for 11 a.m. — 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8 at the Missouri Athletic Club (405 Washington Ave., St. Louis, MO 63102).
