Few lawyers unite professional excellence and a deep commitment to service quite like Morgan C. Murphy, the newly appointed President of the Saint Louis Bar Foundation. A seasoned trial lawyer and managing partner of Zevan Murphy Law, Morgan has built her career around fearless advocacy for medical malpractice and personal injury victims. She is widely respected not only for her trial skills but also for her compassion and dedication to her clients, colleagues, and community.

Morgan’s journey in law began at Washington University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude in 2011. During law school, she distinguished herself as an editor of the Journal of Law and Policy and earned multiple academic awards. After graduation, she practiced as a medical malpractice defense attorney at Moser & Marsalek, P.C. and later at Brown & James, P.C., where she second-chaired six jury trials.

In 2017, she transitioned to plaintiffs’ work at Zevan Davidson Roman, rising from associate to partner before co-founding Zevan Murphy in 2024. Today, as Managing Partner, she oversees a firm dedicated to medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury litigation.

Her results include a $1,000,000 verdict for a negligent spine surgery case against Mercy, $5,008,000 wrongful death verdict against Saint Louis University, and a $3,000,000 verdict in a shuttle bus collision case. She has also achieved multiple confidential multimillion-dollar settlements for clients in Missouri and Illinois, underscoring her effectiveness both in trial and in securing fair outcomes before trial when justice demands it.

Morgan has served the profession in numerous leadership roles. She chaired the Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section Council (2017–2018) and now chairs the Missouri Bar Complaint Resolution Committee. She is a member of the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA) and is active in its Women’s Caucus.

She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Women Lawyers’ Association of St. Louis and was elected President of the Saint Louis Bar Foundation in 2025.

Morgan is also a frequent CLE presenter, covering topics such as trial skills, voir dire, discovery, and electronic medical records. Most recently, she delivered Decoding EMR – Exposing Critical Evidence Beyond the PDF at MATA’s 2025 conference.

For me, Morgan’s gift for mentorship has always been personal. I first met Morgan in 2012 through the Lawyers Association of St. Louis Gridiron Show, where she contributed as both a writer and performer. Finding ourselves young and somewhat shell-shocked lawyers, we became roommates. While practicing in entirely different areas, we spent many nights workshopping strategy, commiserating losses, celebrating wins, and decompressing with episodes of Big Brother.

That spirit of collaboration has endured for more than a decade of friendship and countless Gridiron shows. We have seen each other through family milestones, moments of both joy and loss, as well as career transitions and achievements. Through it all, I have seen how Morgan’s steady generosity strengthens everyone around her, both personally and professionally. 

As Foundation President, Morgan has articulated a vision to expand foundation programs, broaden outreach to underrepresented communities, and strengthen public engagement. Her philosophy is grounded in the belief that the legal profession must strive for distinction while also fostering meaningful community impact.

From her first days as a young defense lawyer to her present role as a trial-tested plaintiffs’ advocate, Morgan Murphy’s career reflects courage, excellence, and service. Her clients know her as a determined advocate; her colleagues know her as a leader, mentor, and friend.
