We live and work in a world where things feel pretty dire. The old complaint that the news never shows the good in humanity doesn’t feel so much like a complaint as it does a reality. Life kicks us while we’re down every day with a new set of crises—personal, professional, and humanitarian—and we are expected to go about our daily routines unbothered by the utter devastation happening around us. We cannot help but become cynics. If you can’t tell that I’ve fallen prey to that cynicism, re-read the first paragraph of this article. Please join BAMSL's Attorneys Against Hunger and Veterans Committees as we participate in The Kaufman Fund's Food 4 Vets program to distribute food on Saturday, November 11th (Veterans Day) between 10:00am and 12:00pm at the Salvation Army Citadel, 824 Union, St. Louis, MO 63123.  Please arrive by 9:00am to help set up.  You are NOT required to be there for the full 3 hours.  Help is needed to load food, traffic control, registration and handing out vouchers.  This will be outdoors, so please dress appropriately.

For the most part, estate planning for veterans is the same as it is for anyone else. Veterans come with issues that estate planners routinely see, but they may also be eligible for benefits that honor their service and ease the loss for their surviving family. However, veterans and their families are often unaware of these benefits or fail to think of them during their time of grief. Directing veterans and their families to these invaluable resources closes the loop in providing your clients the competent, all-encompassing service they deserve.
