It seems every president from Monroe to Biden, except Eisenhower, agrees with Abraham Simpson: Charles Evans Whittaker is the only United States Supreme Court Justice to hail from Missouri. Colorado, which became a state 55 years after Missouri, and is to this day less populous than Missouri, has had 2 residents serve as justices of the Supreme Court.  There have been as many Heisman trophy runners-up to serve as there have been Missourians. However, three future Justices spent early parts of their legal careers in Saint Louis.

Please join BAMSL's Attorneys Against Hunger and Veterans Committees as we participate in The Kaufman Fund's Food 4 Vets program to distribute food on Saturday, November 9th between 10:00am and 11:30am at the Salvation Army Gateway Citadel, 824 Union, St. Louis, MO 63123.  Please arrive by 9:30am to help set up.  Help is needed to load food, traffic control, registration and handing out vouchers.  This event takes place outdoors, so please dress appropriately.  Since this is a drive-thru event, we ask that you please limit the participation of small children.

This new “Auto Create Case” feature will automate the process of electronically accepting new petitions filed in certain civil case types, making the new case promptly available for the attorneys to continue filing documents or beginning other time-sensitive work. It also will make these new cases promptly available for the public to view. The feature has been in planning and development for more than a year.

Autumn presents us with beautiful views, vibrant colors, and a lovely opportunity to prepare for the holiday and winter season. Conservationists will tell you that trees lose their leaves this time of year for a few critical reasons. First and foremost, to conserve energy. Maintaining green leaves is hard work and impractical year-round. Second, it helps the trees avoid freezing in the colder months. Lastly, for senescence. A little state of nature we could all learn from. Senescence, in short, is the tree’s process of aging. The trees, as a whole, engage in the process and the individual leaves do, too. In fact, the changing of the leaves is what allows the trees to survive the winter and reach old age.

In partnership with the St. Louis Area League of Women Voters, St. Louis County Circuit Courts is hosting a “Meet the Judges” Forum before the Nov. 5th Election. A panel of judges on the ballot will answer questions submitted by St. Louis County Voters. The Forum will take place on Tuesday October 29th, at 7 pm at the Meramec Valley Branch of the St. Louis County Library located at 1501 San Simeon Way, Fenton, MO 63026
