While history often remembers the men who signed the Declaration of Independence as our nation’s founders or as revolutionaries, an often-overlooked fact is that nearly half of the signers were lawyers. Men trained in the law played a pivotal role in articulating roots of the rule of law that would become the foundation of the United States, which continue to guide our profession today.
