Legal Beagles (YLD)
In an effort to provide assistance to the elderly, the YLD will host a Legal Beagles Program this year. Under this program, YLD will send volunteers with their pets to visit nursing homes and hospitals throughout the St. Louis area. The purpose of the program is to provide the therapeutic touch of pets and volunteers for people bound by the physical and mental limitations in local institutions. Pet volunteers may include, but is not limited to, dogs, cats, rabbits and birds. Members of the committee will be responsible for selecting the nursing home(s) and/or hospitals(s) we will visit, soliciting volunteers, organizing an orientation program for volunteers and temperament/training test for pets, and arranging time/schedules for visits.
