Hon. Stephen N. Limbaugh, Sr. — Senior Counsel, Armstrong Teasdale LLP

 

Former federal judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Sr. is a member of Armstrong Teasdale's Litigation practice group. During his distinguished legal career, Judge Limbaugh has presided over, ruled on, and been involved in virtually every aspect of federal law and issues associated with complex business litigation, including antitrust, class action, intellectual property, personal injury, product liability, and securities matters. 

 

From 1983 to 2008, Judge Limbaugh served as a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri. Prior to being appointed by president Ronald Reagan in 1983, he was in private law practice and served as a prosecuting attorney for Cape Girardeau County, Missouri and city attorney for Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Prior to his legal career, he served in the U.S. Navy and served for one and half years at the end of World War II.

Patrick I. Chavez — Partner, Williams Venker & Sanders LLC

 

Patrick Chavez serves as the Group Leader for the eDiscovery & Information Management group at Williams Venker & Sanders. He devotes much of his practice to counseling clients in legal matters involving technology, including eDiscovery. As a member of the Sedona Conference® Working Group 1 on Electronic Document Retention and Production and an experienced trial attorney, Patrick regularly counsels clients on eDiscovery matters, large and small, to develop efficient, defensible, and cost-effective strategies for collection, processing, review, and production of electronically stored information. 

 

In non-litigation situations, Patrick offers guidance to clients in the area of information governance, including document management, social media, document retention and cloud computing. He also advises clients on cybersecurity, serving as a resource for clients who wish to understand and manage data security risks, as well as providing guidance on responding to data security breaches. Patrick also has an ongoing complex litigation practice, in which he regularly handles commercial litigation matters and the defense of product and professional liability suits, among other types of actions.

 

Patrick is extensively involved in community and legal education activities. He serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit St. Louis Bar Foundation and works with both the Bar Foundation and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis to promote the interests of diverse communities and increase diversity within the legal profession. In 2012, Patrick helped to establish the first Hispanic bar association in St. Louis, and he currently serves as its President. Born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Patrick resides in St. Louis with his wife Sandy.

 

Jason Sengheiser — Law Clerk, Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District

 

Jason Sengheiser is a law clerk for the Honorable Robert G. Dowd, Jr. at the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District. Jason is also an adjunct faculty member at Fontbonne University, where he teaches Introduction to Law and American Constitutional Development. 

 

In addition to his professional engagements, Jason is a very active member of several bar organizations. Jason has been active with the ABA YLD since 2008. Over the last several years, he has served as a Minority in the Profession Scholar, as Chair of the Individual Rights and Responsibilities Committee, as Chair of the Government, Military, and Public Sector Committee, as a member of the Affiliate Assistance Team, and as a Representative for District 22 (MO and KS) on the ABA YLD Council. In his role as a District Representative, Jason helped to deliver disaster legal services for the tornado in Joplin as well as for flooding in Missouri. Jason has also represented the ABA YLD in several oratory competitions as well as at the Fellows Debate. Jason currently serves the ABA YLD as a member of its Leadership Advisory Board and Truth in Law School Education Committee, and Jason is also the ABA YLD’s Liaison to the Judicial Division.

 

Jason has also served on the Young Lawyers’ Section Council of the Missouri Bar since 2008. During his time on the Council, he has served as the Council’s Continuing Legal Education Committee Chair, its ABA Delegate, and its Bar Foundation Representative. Jason has also served on the Executive Board of the Young Lawyers Division of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis since 2010 and on the board of the Young Friends of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri since 2012.  Jason is a former board member of Amnesty International USA, where he has had numerous volunteer leadership roles, including serving for three years as the Nominating Committee Chair and as a member of the International Council Meeting Delegation in 2007. More close to home, Jason serves as Secretary of the Board for St. Louis B-Works. Recently, Jason also became a member of the Advisory Board for the Saint Louis University Prison Program. Also, in his spare time, Jason coaches youth hockey and handcycles, skis, and kayaks whenever he can. Jason received B.A. degrees in Environmental Science and German Studies from Saint Louis University in 2000. Jason also received his J.D. from Saint Louis University in 2003. In addition, Jason received his LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from Columbia University in 2006.
