Women in the Legal Profession (WILP)
Mission
Established originally in 1980 as a committee, the mission of the Women in the Legal Profession Section is to promote and enhance women lawyers professionally, personally, and within their community. WILP provides members with the opportunity to connect and interact with other female legal professionals, thus offering support, growth and synergy.
Membership
Membership in WILP is free for all BAMSL members. Currently, there are over 100 section members. However, membership is not automatic. Aren't sure if you're a member? Would you like to become one? Then contact Janet Frain, BAMSL staff member for WILP, at jfrain@bamsl.org or 314/421-4134. We'd love for you to join us and help make WILP an even stronger force in the legal community!
Events
Charity Drive
This year's suit drive was overwhelmingly successful. We received an enormous number of gently used men's and women's suits, which were donated to the Salvation Army to assist economically disadvantaged men and women who are seeking employment. These suits will directly benefit various local programs of the St. Louis Salvation Army, including its Adult Rehabilitation Center. Thanks to the many area firms that donated to this very worthy cause.
Networking Luncheons
On a monthly basis, WILP members meet for
luncheons to discuss issues and upcoming
events. These luncheons offer members an
opportunity to get better acquainted with members
and to share and learn from others' experiences.
The quarterly meeting was held on Thursday, February 11th
at the Point of View, 30th Floor of the Laclede Gas Building.
Thanks to all who attended!
New Admittee Reception
Each fall, WILP holds a reception for newly admitted women lawyers. This reception offers recent graduates an opportunity to meet other female legal professionals, to become better acclimated to the intricacies of the profession, and to be exposed to the benefits of membership in the various bar associations.
