Recognizing Outstanding Efforts to Promote Public Understanding of the Law

The purpose of the Gateway Gavel Awards is to recognize eligible entries from print and broadcast media that have been exemplary in helping to promote the public's understanding of the law and the legal system. The Gateway Gavel Awards seek to recognized entries reaching a public across a wide range of communities and audiences. The Gateway Gavel Awards also seek to recognize publications and broadcasting stations that meet one or more of the these criteria:

Informational value and/or educational merit in one or more areas:

• Increasing public understanding of the legal system and practice of law as a profession in our society
• Raising awareness of legal issues
• exposing problems and the need for improvement in the legal system and/or enhancing the administration of justice

Originality/credibility/resourcefulness
Thoroughness and accuracy
Reportorial and technical skills
Impact
